Tell A Story Through Dance With Our Contemporary Classes!

Contemporary brings together various dance styles to express the meaning behind the music.

About Contemporary

Contemporary is a popular dance style that combines various other dance styles and techniques in an expressive manner. Contemporary students will incorporate skills they are developing as a dancer to fully express themselves and captivate an audience with a story told through movement.

At DSi, Contemporary students explore their own creativity and celebrate the way each individual dancer moves. Contemporary is a nice mix between structured exercises, unison work and freedom of individuality. Students explore shapes, levels, musical dynamics, transitions, improvisation and new ways of moving.

Contemporary Students Will Develop

  • Improved Understanding Of Qualities Of Movement
  • Increased Physical Strength
  • Musicality
  • Improved Flexibility & Coordination
  • A Creative Outlet To Explore Themes & Emotions
  • Increased Confidence & Self Expression
