Miss Katie Yarn | Teacher/Receptionist

DSI has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Before I started teaching in 2013, I was a student for 15 years. I began competing with DSI when I was nine years old, earning many awards and acclamations along the way. Along with competing, I’ve completed multiple ADAPT jazz examinations as well as many RAD graded and vocational ballet exams. Growing up at DSI, it became a second home for me; my teachers, mentors and friends have become my family. It’s an experience I cherish and I’m so happy to share that with our DSI students. Alongside teaching, I am currently completing a Bachelor of Communications, majoring in Information Design at Mount Royal University. When I’m not teaching, you can find me practicing yoga, practicing my German or working as a User Experience Designer. I’m incredibly excited to return to the studio (AKA my home) to share my experience, stories and love of dance. My goal is to build strong connections with my students to ensure that their dance training can benefit them well beyond the walls of DSI. I look forward to another amazing year of exploring, creating, growing and to share my love of dance with the next generation of DSI dancers!
