Miss Katie Yarn | Teacher

I am so thrilled to be returning for my eighth year teaching at Dance Spectrum. DSI has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Before I started teaching in 2013, I was a devoted student for 15 years. I began competing with DSI when I was nine years old, earning many awards and acclamations along the way. Along with competing, I’ve completed multiple ADAPT Jazz examinations as well as many RAD Graded and Vocational Ballet exams. Growing up at DSI, it became a second home for me; my teachers, mentors and friends became my second family. It’s an experience I cherish and I’m so happy to share that with our DSI students. Alongside teaching, I work in social media and graphic design and am currently completing a certificate in User Experience Design. I proudly hold a Bachelors of Communications from Mount Royal University and am so happy to turn my passion of accessibility, user experience and creativity into a career. When I’m not teaching, you can find me trying a new workout class, escaping to the mountains or spending time with my adorable nieces and nephews. I’m incredibly excited to return to the studio to share my experience, stories and love of dance. My goal is to build strong connections with my students to ensure that their dance training can benefit them well beyond the walls of DSI. I look forward to another amazing year of exploring, creating, growing and sharing my love of dance with the next generation of DSI Dancers!
