Miss Katie Hanson | Teacher

After over a decade living in Toronto I am so excited to be relocating back to Calgary and starting my first year on the DSI staff! I was lucky enough to grow up at DSI where my admiration for dance started and where I received the love and encouragement to pursue my passion!

I have gained a respected reputation within Torontoโ€™s dance community where I spent time dancing professionally, teaching, adjudicating, and choreographing. I have been involved in various film and live theatre performances and found a passion for choreography working at youth, pre-professional, and professional levels. I am a member of the Professional Adjudicators Alliance and have enjoyed working for many competitions all over Canada.  Internationally, dance has taken me many places including New York, Florence, Italy, and Vienna, Austria where I worked with and studied extensively from respected dance educators. As I progress with my research and development, my enthusiasm to share with the next generation continues. I am forever inspired by my teachers who shaped me. My goal is to share not only the love of dance but the life lessons that those teachers, now colleagues, had taught me all those years ago. I canโ€™t wait to start my first season teaching at the place that I cherish so much!pectrumโ€™s 27th season!
