Miss Julie Morgan-Thompson | Teacher

This is my 20th year of teaching at Dance Spectrum!  I am from Red Deer, Alberta, and I started dancing at age 3. I have trained in Ballet, Tap, Highland, Jazz, Modern and National.  To further my dance training, I moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson University, where I graduated from the Dance program with Honours, making the Dean’s list.  In Toronto, I was fortunate to have worked with Danny Grossman (Danny Grossman Dance Company), Bengt Jörgen (Ballet Jörgen), and Nadia Potts (The National Ballet of Canada), to name a few.  It has always been my dream to be a dance teacher so therefore I pursued teaching accreditation. I received my Teaching Certificate from the Royal Academy of Dance earning a Distinction in the Children’s Graded work, a Teaching Diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance, I received an Award of Distinction in the Cecchetti Associate Teaching Exam and received an Associate Teaching Diploma from the Cecchetti Society of Canada.  I recently received certification for teaching the Progressing Ballet Technique method.  I have taught in schools in Toronto, as well as schools in Calgary, including Alberta Ballet School.  I have trained students successfully for ballet exams from Primary through to Advanced Two levels.  I have also become a Mentor for the Royal Academy of Dance, training new teachers for their teaching certification.  When not in the studio, I enjoy spending time my family.  I am looking forward to sharing my passion for dance with my students, new and returning, this coming year!
